Meiotic Breakpoint Environment

BPE is a set of programs for performing meiotic breakpoint analysis on a set of genetic markers, used for constructing genetic maps. BPE is copyrighted material, but may be freely distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License. The BPE package currently consists of the following programs:

origins
a perl program for inferring grandparental origins for a set of markers (Source, Documentation).
bin2num
a perl filter for converting binary coded alleles to numbered alleles (Source, Documentation).
wclique
A package for selecting good framework markers for genetic or radiation hybrid mapping experiments. This software has it's own page .

Please note that these programs are experimental, but we do currently use them for mapping. If you encounter difficulties running them, please email the maintainers at the address at the bottom of the page, we will try to address any issues as time permits.

To use these programs you will need to have the following supplemental programs installed on your system.

To run origins and bin2num:
perl version 5.003 available from http://www.perl.com/
To run origins:
Boulder5, available from http://www-genome.wi.mit.edu/genome_software/other/boulder.html
