I've worked in computational biology since 1988, before I knew what computational biology was. I've been working the past several years in getting some bioinformatics initiatives started at the University of Puerto Rico, and it's starting to pay off.
One project underway is a large initiative to create a center for computational biology: BiCu Site.
The best resource is the International Society for Computational Biology's web page at http://www.iscb.org/. They have course listings, jobs, journals, conference listings, and more.
My software page has links to some software I've developed for computational biology.
The ISCB has a long list of courses, but we've finally started offering courses at the UPR too.
